SONOR SAXOPHONE QUARTET

First Prize & Rising Star – Special Award
The Sonor Saxophone Quartet was formed in 2020 within the framework of chamber music studies at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, and the ensemble reached its final lineup in 2023.
The members of the quartet are Martin Ficsura (soprano saxophone), Viktória Pusomi (alto saxophone), Noémi Bakó (tenor saxophone), and Timót Magyary (baritone saxophone). All of us are former or current students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.
Our repertoire focuses primarily on original works for saxophone quartet from the 20th century and contemporary music, while high-quality arrangements also play an important role in our concerts. Our aim is to present and promote the unique qualities and possibilities of the saxophone, and to bring the rich and diverse sound world of classical saxophone and saxophone quartet music to an ever wider audience.
